Energy & Resources

Electricity Generation Assets

These include:

  • Gas
  • Hydro
  • Wind
  • Geothermal developments

Crighton Anderson has provided expert opinion on land value, compensation under the Public Works Act, rentals, commercial compensatory packages, option agreements and associated litigation support.

Transmission Assets

These include compensation assessments for transmission lines, substations and pipelines, as well as rating value assessments for networks.

Irrigation

Water is a resource that is increasingly difficult to appropriately allocate between competing uses. New and existing irrigation schemes now provide high profile competition for this resource, particularly in the drier east coast regions of the South Island. Regional schemes have high capital requirements, with issues including funding, ownership, affordability, take-up and obvious environmental matters to be resolved. Crighton Anderson has gained considerable experience in the provision of economic modeling for a number of schemes assisting in pricing and affordability analysis.

Mineral Resources

Our experience extends to the consideration of value for mineral reserves such as limestone, metal, coal and geothermal resource use. In recent times the majority of these valuations are conducted by determining the Net Present Value by Discounted Cash Flow or capitalisation models. Expert advice is often required to provide an assessment of the remaining quantity of the respective resource.

Forest Land

Forest land is held in various types of ownership, each with its own set of rights and obligations. We have developed considerable expertise in considering value under fee simple and licence agreements such as Crown Forest Licence’s, for consideration of fair annual rent, funding support, development opportunities and the impact of the Emissions Trading Scheme.
